About the Workshop
Join us to help create new stories of change for Oxfordshire’s streets and neighbourhoods.
What does progress actually look and feel like in Oxfordshire?
We have collected hundreds of ideas, hopes, fears and dreams about Oxfordshire's streets and neighbourhoods. Now we need to bring them together into something that can measure what actually matters.
Official data gives us collision rates, the number of children killed or seriously injured (KSI) on our roads, levels of particulate matter in the air, deaths linked to air pollution and obesity rates. These are important things for officials to track. But they're do-less-harm metrics. They tell us how bad things are, not what good looks like for people living here.
In this workshop, we'll dive into the data from the first part of the project and together notice the patterns and themes that point toward something richer: community-designed indicators of what thriving streets and neighbourhoods in Oxfordshire actually look, sound and feel like in everyday life.
This is the work that turns collective imagination into something people and communities can work with together, and communicate to funders, decision-makers, and anyone shaping places in Oxfordshire.
We are running the same workshop twice. Can't make 20 May? The same workshop runs again on Thursday, 9 June.
Where does this fit?
This is a part of a 5-workshop series in Future Streets Oxfordshire: A People Powered Project to envision thriving places and unlock the conditions for change, convened by Oxfordshire Liveable Streets. Whether you joined us for the time travel session at Oxford Town Hall or are coming to the project fresh, you are welcome. You don't need to have participated in any other workshops to take part and add value.
What to expect
A 1.5 hour online workshop led by Peter Lefort. Expect small group discussion and hands-on work as we dive into themes and ideas from across the project and shape them into indicators that mean something in real life. Designed for everyone, no expertise needed.
