So, what’s actually going to happen?

Oxford is growing. With a 20% rise in population, we can’t all drive everywhere as the default option. Our streets are only a certain size, and most of us need to move around at roughly the same times of day.

The rise in population is not within the County Council’s control. It’s to do with the economic growth of the South East, and national housing targets. However, the Council is responsible for keeping Oxford moving, so it has carefully created a plan called the Central Oxfordshire Travel Plan.

The plan will speed up buses and help us feel safer on bikes, so lots of us can swap out some car journeys, and keep our city moving.

And what’s already happened?

In Cowley and East Oxford, low traffic neighborhoods have been created. These are in addition to the many low traffic neighborhoods that already exist in North Oxford.
