Oxfordshire's population is growing

Transcript: Oxfordshire’s population in growing. 15% increase in population from 2021-2030. 100,000 new homes from 2011-2031. These areas around Oxford are zoned for new houses in local plans. Around Blackbird Leys and Cowley, around Kidlington and Yarnton, around Barton. 100,000 new homes = about 142,000 new cars. Whether or not we like the new housing, we need a plan. Our options: Do nothing and put up with gridlock? No: No road space for faster buses or safer walking and cycling. Hope people drive less without any restrictions? No: Can’t do nothing and expect different results—people won’t spontaneously change their routine. Continue debating and looking for the perfect policy? No: Kicks the can down the road and wastes time—there’s no magic wand. Try something? Yes: Trial the traffic filters and make any necessary adjustments.
